Description

This is a flight of garden steps located approximately 30 metres south of Pitchford Hall, built in the 1870s or 1880s, likely by George Devey. The steps are made of coursed red sandstone rubble and red sandstone ashlar, consisting of three stone steps. There are low coped flanking walls with coped square ashlar end piers topped with globe finials. This flight is one of a pair that connects with the steps in the retaining wall next to Pitchford Hall to the south and is part of the terrace retaining wall adjoining the Hall to the east. It is included for its group value.
