Description
This granary, dating from the early 18th century, is located approximately 20 metres to the north-east of Cantlop Farmhouse. It features a timber-framed first floor with red brick nogging above a red brick ground floor. The roof is hipped and covered with plain tiles and corrugated asbestos. The structure consists of seven bays and stands two storeys tall. The framing includes light square panels, with three extending from the first-floor sole-plate to the wall-plate, and long straight tension braces.
On the exterior, there are two boarded loft doors in the centre and to the right, along with a small window to the left. The ground floor has a pair of large boarded doors off-centre to the right, a boarded sliding door to the right, and a two-bay cartshed to the left, which has an inserted central steel post. There are also vents in the brickwork at the right-hand end.
Inside, the granary features a mix of 18th-century tie-beam trusses with raking queen struts and 19th-century machine-sawn king post trusses, as well as a chamfered beam in the cartshed to the left. Cantlop Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
