Description

The Bottle and Glass Public House is a building that originally served as a house, dating from the mid-17th century to the late 17th century, with alterations and additions made in the 18th century. It has a timber frame with painted brick nogging, and the front and side walls have been rebuilt. The building has been extended with painted sandstone rubble featuring brick dressings and has plain tile roofs. It consists of three framed bays with an addition to the west and is one storey tall with an attic.

The south front features four gabled eaves dormers that contain two-light metal casements. There is a large central sandstone ridge stack topped with 19th-century brick and an external brick end stack to the left. The front has three windows, which are 20th-century two-light segmental-headed wooden casements. There is a segmental-headed 19th-century boarded door located off-centre to the left between the first and second windows, and a segmental-headed small-paned glazed door to the right. Additionally, there is a blocked segmental-headed door between the first and second windows from the right. The right-hand gable end displays a tie-beam truss with two collars, queen struts, and v-struts. At the rear, there is a 20th-century flat-roofed addition.

Inside, the building features a pair of chamfered spine beams, and in the right-hand room, there is a ceiling beam with quarter-round moulding. An open fireplace is present, featuring dressed sandstone reveals and a chamfered lintel.
