Description

This is a mid-18th century stable and granary, located approximately 15 metres to the west of Alderton Hall. The building is constructed of red brick with a dressed red sandstone plinth, and has a graded slate roof, with 20th-century asbestos slates to the rear. It is arranged in a T-plan, with two storeys and a loft, and includes a two-storey wing to the rear. The gable ends are parapeted. The front elevation features two bays with segmental-headed wooden cross windows. A segmental-headed boarded door is situated on the right-hand side. The right-hand gable end has a plat band and boarded loft doors to the first floor and attic. The front wall appears to have been rebuilt at some point in the 18th century, evidenced by a straight joint on the side. The building originally formed the stable block for Alderton Hall. The interior has not been inspected.
