Description
This is a barn and cartshed located approximately one metre to the northeast of Hall Farmhouse. It dates from the 16th century, with alterations and additions made in the 19th century. The structure features a weatherboarded timber frame set on a red sandstone rubble plinth, and it is of cruck construction, with parts rebuilt in red brick. The roof is covered with corrugated iron.
The barn consists of three framed bays, with a later cartshed added to the right. It has a pair of large boarded doors on the right, a pair of boarded doors in the centre, and a pair of low boarded doors on the left. The adjoining cartshed has two bays.
Inside, there are four full cruck trusses that have been cut off below the collar, along with framed cross walls. The pitch of the roof has been lowered, likely at the same time the crucks were truncated. This barn is part of a small farmstead group in the village centre, which also includes Hall Farmhouse and a cow house.
