Description
This is a chest tomb dedicated to Edward Mason, located 4 metres south of the nave of the Church of St James. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb features a flat plain lid and has an inscribed semicircular side panel adorned with radial gadrooned spandrel carving. The ends of the tomb are plain, and it has projecting vertical beaded and gadrooned corner piers. The base includes a plain chamfered plinth that is recessed below the panels. The memorial commemorates Edward Mason, who died in 1807, and his wife Mary, who died in 1809.
