Description
The former coach house, located approximately 30 meters east of Ruyton Hall, is now used as a garage and store. It dates back to 1705 and has undergone later alterations. The building is constructed of red brick in a random bond pattern and features a graded slate roof. It has a T-plan layout with a short gabled range at the rear and lower ranges on both the left and right sides. The structure is one storey high with an attic, and it has floor bands on the gable ends of the main range.
The front has a central pediment where the original coach arch has been replaced by 20th-century double doors with a steel lintel. There is a semi-circular attic window flanked by gabled eaves dormers on either side. The ground floor retains original cross windows with gauged heads, positioned on either side of the pedimented break. Above the entrance, there is a datestone inscribed "K/.WI./1705" and a pyramidal-capped slated louvre at the center. The gable ends have infilled attic windows, and the right lower range features a timber frame in the gable.
Inside, the ground floor has a ceiling with chamfered cross beams. The double-purlin roof spans four bays and includes a brick partition between the two left bays, along with two queen-strut trusses on the right, which have V-struts extending from the collar. This building served as the former coach house for Ruyton Hall, which is not included in this listing.
