Description
The estate bridge, located approximately 100 metres east of Pitchford Hall, dates from the 1870s or 1880s and is likely designed by George Devey. It incorporates elements from an earlier bridge. The structure is made of coursed red sandstone rubble with red sandstone ashlar dressings, featuring late 19th-century squared and thinly coursed red sandstone parapets and retaining walls. The bridge has two chamfered segmental arches, with the northern arch being larger. Angled retaining walls support the abutments. At the south end, there is a late 19th-century wooden three-bar gate. A map from 1714 indicates that the Shrewsbury-Pitchford road crossed the Row Brook at this location, suggesting that the current bridge incorporates parts of the earlier structure, although it now primarily provides access to the park. The type of 19th-century masonry used aligns with Devey's work on Pitchford Hall during the late 19th century.
