Description
This is an early 17th century house, with later alterations. It is a timber-framed building with painted brick infill panels, set on a restored brick plinth. The windows are 20th century replacements. The roof is covered with thick slate tiles and plain tiles on a later extension. There are projecting brick gable-end stacks and an integral brick gable-end stack. The house has a rectangular plan of two original bays, with a third bay added as an extension to the end.
The front of the house has two bays with square framing, four panels high, featuring a single straight tension brace. Each bay has a casement window at each storey, and there is a projecting gabled slate-roofed entrance porch in the left bay. To the left is a single extension bay also with square framing, three panels high, including a dormer and a ground-floor casement window.
The left side gable shows the extension’s square framing, three panels high, with a roof truss featuring a straight tie beam, vertical struts, a collar and twin raking struts. This partially obscures the higher original gable, which has a triangular glazed panel at its apex. The rear of the building has two bays of square framing, four panels high, with a straight tension brace and a casement window in each bay at each storey. A single extension bay is positioned to the right, also with square framing, three panels high, with raised eaves to accommodate casement windows at both storeys. The right side gable framing is hidden by a projecting stack. The interior has not been inspected.
