Description
The Vicarage is a fine 15th-century timber-framed house situated overlooking the churchyard. It has a long black and white facade facing the road, characterized by its vertical framing. A continuous overhang is present at the first floor, showcasing exposed joist ends and stout, carved brackets. The windows are primarily plain wood casements, with one sash window on the ground floor to the right. The carved double doorway has been restored, and the roof is covered with modern red tiles and gabled ends. A particularly notable feature is the north end gable, which has an overhang supported by carved heads, a bead-moulded bressummer, and 19th-century ornamental barge boards. The ground floor has coupled 18th-century sash windows, while an oriel window above is likely original. The building forms a group with All Saints Church, a lychgate, and the Church of England School with Clarecott on Pound Street.
