Description

The Ellesmere Hotel is an early 19th-century building, with later alterations. It is constructed of stucco, with rusticated detailing over the ground storey. The building is two storeys high and features seven sash windows. The lower windows have plain keyblocks and lintels. A shallow-arched passageway is located in the centre of the front. The building has modillion eaves and five box dormers, all covered with slate. The return side, which has a radiused angle, is three storeys high with four windows. A rear brick wing incorporates exposed timber framing. The building was previously known as the Bridgewater Arms Hotel and the Bridgewater Hotel.
