Description

Mill House and the adjoining mill are now disused structures dating from the late 17th century and 18th century, with alterations made in the late 19th century. The mill features a timber frame with painted brick nogging, some weatherboarding, and sections rebuilt in red brick, while the house is built of painted brick. Both buildings have plain tile roofs. The framing of the mill includes 17th-century square panels with short straight corner braces and larger 18th-century light square panels, consisting of four panels from the sole plate to the wall plate. The layout is L-shaped, with the house projecting to the right.

The two-storey house and the two-storey mill with an attic include a central projecting gabled hoist loft featuring a two-light metal casement. On the first floor, there are three boarded doors and a small window above to the right. The ground floor has a two-light wooden-framed metal casement to the right, a small boarded hatch to the left—likely for accommodating a belt drive for external machinery—and a central boarded stable-type door. The house projects at right angles to the mill and has an external brick end stack, along with a 20th-century wooden casement that is not of special interest.

Inside the mill, the first floor has been partly removed, but some fittings remain, including two pairs of stones on the right, driven from beneath, along with much shafting and gearing, and a heavy timber supporting structure. There is also a large probable former wheel pit on the left.
