Description
Grove Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 17th century and has undergone alterations and additions in the late 19th century and mid- to late 20th century. The building features a timber frame set on a dressed sandstone plinth, with painted brick nogging and a rendered front. It has been extended in painted brick and has a plain tile roof. The structure consists of two framed bays with later additions to the left and is two storeys high.
There is an external brick end stack on the right, a 20th-century brick ridge stack off-centre to the left, a roughly central brick stack just behind the ridge, and an integral lateral brick stack at the rear. The windows are 20th-century small-paned metal casements, with four on the first floor and six on the ground floor. The entrance features a roughly central boarded door with a 20th-century wrought-iron porch. The left gable end is rendered and includes a full-height canted bay and a fire insurance plate at the apex. At the rear, there are two gabled wings, one of which has a 20th-century integral brick end stack. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
