Description
The ice house, located approximately 90 meters north-east of Halston Hall, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a graded slate roof that is gabled at the front and apsidal at the rear. The front has a plank door with a semi-circular relieving arch, flanked by ramped revetment walls. Inside, a short tunnel leads to a large egg-shaped cavity of uncertain depth. The dome of the ice house is covered by an earth mound, making it a particularly well-preserved example of its type.
