Description
102 and 103 Abbey Foregate are a pair of houses built around 1860. They are constructed of brick and feature a plain tiled roof. The buildings are two stories high and have a four-window range, designed in a sturdy and symmetrical Gothic style. The outer gabled wings project and are connected by a glazed verandah supported by chamfered wood columns and corbels. Below the verandah, there are paired casement windows with steeply arched heads. Above, two high gabled dormers are corbelled out and contain two-light casement windows with steeply arched heads. The ground floor of the projecting wings features a canted bay with a hipped roof, and there is a high gabled dormer above, also carried on corbels. The houses have a stone moulded eaves cornice and doors located in lean-to porches against the outer walls. They also feature axial stacks with diagonal flues, showcasing a robust and unusual interpretation of the Domestic Gothic Revival style.
