Description

Number 1 High Street is a mid-18th century building constructed of painted brick. It stands two storeys tall and features three sash windows on the upper floor, each with plain arched lintels and fluted keyblocks, while the central window has an enriched keyblock. The windows are complemented by plain aprons. The ground floor has two similar sash windows and a six-fielded-panelled door set in a moulded frame, which is topped by a rectangular fanlight and a moulded cornice. The building has coved plaster eaves and three simple gabled dormers, all covered with old tiles. There is a modern shop front on the left-hand side. Number 1 is part of a group with Nos 15 to 19 Barratt's Hill.
