Description
No. 44 Noble Street is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, which was refronted in the early to mid-20th century. The building is timber-framed and has been faced with red brick on the street side. It features a modillion brick eaves cornice and a plain tiled hipped roof, with a stack at the left end and another on the hip to the right. The house has two storeys and two bays, with glazing bar sash windows that have painted heads on the ground floor. The central entrance is a half-glazed door, also with a painted head. Inside, there is significant evidence of substantial timber-framing, especially on the rear wall. Although the roof has been raised at the front, a framed rear gable remains, showcasing principal rafters and a queen post truss. The framing appears to consist of two irregular panels from the cill to the wall-plate. This building is included for its group value only.
