Description

This chest tomb, located in the churchyard of the Old Church of St Chad, dates from between 1746 and 1762 and is constructed of ashlar. It serves as a memorial to Jonathon and Elisabeth Scott. The tomb features three panels on each of its long sides, with the central panel recessed and containing an oval inscription plate. Atop the tomb is an urn adorned with delicate low-relief foliage, heraldic emblems, and fluting.
