Description
The cow houses, located approximately 10 metres to the north-east of Shootrough Farmhouse, date from the 18th and 19th centuries. They are constructed from weatherboarded timber framing set on a high sandstone rubble plinth, with an extended section made of roughly coursed sandstone rubble and topped with a corrugated iron roof. The structure is one storey high. The right-hand section features a pair of louvred windows on either side of a central boarded door, which is accessed by three stone steps. The left-hand section has two boarded doors, with the right-hand door resembling a stable type. These cow houses are part of a complete farmstead group that includes the farmhouse and barn, and they are included for their group value.
