Description

Marlas Mill, now a farmhouse, was built in the early 19th century and altered in the 20th century. The building is constructed of squared sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings, and has a tiled roof. It has a rectangular plan with all openings facing northwest. A central axial stack is visible. The mill is three storeys high, with two string courses. There are four windows, with the two leftmost windows containing 19th-century metal frames; the others are 20th-century replacements. Two loft openings are located on the first floor, to the left of the centre window. The ground floor has five doorways, one of which is now blocked, and a 20th-century lean-to porch is located to the right of the centre doorway. All openings are topped with flat arched lintels featuring pronounced keystones.
