Description
Stone Lynne and the adjoining outbuilding are a house and outbuilding from the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and mid-20th century. The structure is timber-framed with painted brick and rendered infill set on a rubble base, featuring some brick refacing and replacement walling, along with machine-tiled roofs. The building has a T-plan layout, with the main range consisting of two framed bays oriented east to west, and an intersecting cross-wing of two framed bays at the eastern end. There is an external brick chimney on the east side of the cross-wing.
The property is two storeys high with an attic. The framing includes four rows of square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, while the cross-wing has two rows of rectangular panels at the first floor level on the south elevation, supported by short straight braces in the lower corners. It features a collar and tie-beam truss with seven struts beneath the collar and a central strut above, along with two pairs of raking struts creating a "fishbone" pattern above the collar. The north gable end of the cross-wing has a simpler collar and tie-beam truss with two struts.
On the south front elevation, the main section has a 2-light window on the ground floor and a 3-light and a 2-light casement on the first floor. There is a ledged and battened door in the easternmost bay. The gable end of the cross-wing features a 3-light 20th-century casement on both floors. The main entrance and two skylights are located at the rear of the main range. The adjoining outbuilding, located at the west gable end, is constructed of rubble and timber framing with brick infill and a slate roof. It consists of a single bay and has two levels, with two rows of square panels at the upper floor level. The south front elevation includes a rectangular ground floor window, a square upper-level window, and a ledged and battened door.
