Description

The Clark monument, located about 40 yards south of the chancel of the Church of St Mary Magdalene, is a chest tomb dedicated to Robert Clark, who died in 180(?). It is made of sandstone ashlar and features a deep moulded base with a low pitched moulded capping. The corners are adorned with balusters that have fluted colonettes and capitals resting on moulded projecting plinths. The north side panel displays a cherub within a large patera surrounded by clouds, while the south side has a plain inscription panel. The enriched end panels are decorated with garlands.
