Description
Annedd Bach, located about 100 yards southwest of Rockyfold Farmhouse, is possibly a farmhouse or small-holder's house that likely dates from the 17th century, with possibly earlier origins. The building features thinly coursed rubble and part timber-frame construction, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The south gable end was rebuilt in brick in the 20th century. The layout appears to consist of one cell, with a later byre or barn replacing a lost second cell, and is aligned north/south.
The north gable projects twice: once for a chimney and again for a stair turret. The north gable elevation has a truncated stack and a small stair light that formerly had two diamond section mullions. To the left of the chimney is an irregularly placed two-light window, likely from the 18th century. The west elevation has been heavily remodelled and is rendered at the right-hand end, featuring a two-light window, probably from the 18th century, to the left of a central ledged door from the 19th century.
The east elevation is timber-framed on a high rubble plinth, with two square panels up to the wall-plate, which are masked by a 20th-century lean-to. Inside, the space is divided axially by mid-19th century partitions, with heavy jowled posts supporting a queen strut at the north end. The south end includes raking struts with minor parallel struts to assist with plastering. There is a partial plank and muntin screen below the southern truss, and stone newel stairs to the left of the fireplace, featuring a hinged smoke baffle that likely dates from the 18th century.
