Description
Penyard Castle consists of the ruins of a castle and house, dating from the early 14th century and the 17th century. The structure is built from sandstone. The north and south gable walls, along with chimneys and part of the east wall, are the remaining parts of the house. The north wall features a blocked window on the first floor, which has two trefoiled ogee lights. The south wall includes a blocked chamfered doorway with a canted head. To the west, a detached wall stands at approximately five metres high. At the time of the survey in April 1986, the site was overgrown and not fully visible. The Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England recorded the remains of a 14th-century undercroft adjoining the south of the house in 1932.
