Description

Martin's Cottage is a house dating from the late 18th century, with a raised and extended section added in the late 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble and brick, topped with pantile roofs. It features a rubble plinth, dressed stone quoins, and brick dressings. The 19th-century addition has dentillated eaves. The cottage is two storeys high and has four bays, with a lower two-storey single bay addition at the southwest end.

On the garden front, to the left, there is a casement window with a timber lintel. To the right, a door with moulded jambs and a dressed stone surround is flanked on the left by a 20th-century casement with a stone lintel and on the right by a casement with a segmental head. Above, to the left, is a 19th-century sash window, and to the right, a small Yorkshire sash with a segmental head, flanked on the left by a glazing bar sash and on the right by another casement with a segmental head.

The northeast gable features a casement window on each floor, both with timber lintels. On the street side, to the left, there is a Yorkshire sash window, and to its right, a glazing bar sash. The 19th-century addition on this side includes a glazed door and a large casement, both with rubbed brick heads. Above, there are three casements to the left and two glazing bar sashes to the right.
