Description

Simkins Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse, possibly designed by William Wilkins. It is built with a render over red brick and has a hipped slate roof with wide eaves and two lateral and one ridge rendered stack. The farmhouse is arranged in an L-plan with two storeys and four bays. A porch with a hipped roof features single arched entrances on each side; the inner doorway has a partly glazed door. On the front, the ground floor has two two-light casements to the left and a single similar casement to the right. Above are four matching casements. The right or east side of the farmhouse has four bays. The ground floor has single-light casements in the second and far-right bays. A single similar casement is located above in the third bay from the right. The remaining bays have similar blind recessed panels. All casements and panels are detailed with Tudor-style hood moulds, and the casements have Gothic glazing bars.
