Description

Charlton Farmhouse is a late 18th-century house. It is constructed primarily of painted brick, with pantiles and glazed pantiles for the roof, featuring a coped south gable and two projecting gable stacks. The main part of the house is two storeys plus a garret, with three bays, and has dentilled eaves. The central doorway is blank, flanked by single Yorkshire sashes with glazing bars contained within segmental arches. Two similar windows are present on the first floor. A slightly recessed two-storey extension, also of painted brick and pantile construction with dentilled eaves, adjoins the north side, featuring a first-floor Yorkshire sash with glazing bars. A 20th-century brick and pantile porch extends west and north from the south side, forming a lean-to. A two-storey, three-bay cross wing is located at the rear, built of painted coursed rubble and brick with a pantile and glazed pantile roof, and a single brick ridge stack.
