Description
The Staunton Arms Public House is an early 19th-century building located on the east side of Staunton High Street. It is constructed of brick, standing on a plinth, with ashlar sills and lintels, and features a glazed pantile roof. The building has a single gable and ridge stacks, is two storeys high, and consists of four bays. There is a double brick band at the first floor and an eaves band. The layout is L-shaped, with an off-centre doorway that has a 20th-century door. To the west of the entrance is a blank window, while to the east there are two glazing bar sash windows. Above, there are three similar sash windows, with another blank window to the west. The windows in the central two bays are slightly narrower, and the ground floor lintels are all painted.
To the east and set back from the front is a one-and-a-half storey brick extension with a glazed pantile roof. This extension has a single Yorkshire sash window with glazing bars on the first floor and a doorway contained within a porch in the re-entrant angle. The rear wing, which has single ridge and gable stacks, is two storeys and consists of three bays. The central window on the ground floor is blank, while the other windows are glazing bar sashes. The centre bay is slightly narrower, and the ground floor features painted sills, with the northern sill being of later brick.
