Description

Home Farm Cottage is a cottage dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and the 20th century. It is constructed of brick, and incorporates a significant amount of reused timber framing, with a pantile roof. The building has a plinth, dentilled eaves, a single ridge stack and a single side wall stack. The windows are 19th and 20th century casements. The cottage is two storeys high and has a three-window front. The west front features a central two-light window flanked to the left by a similar window and to the right by a single window. Below, a central three-light window is flanked to the left by a smaller window, both with segmental heads, and to the right by a blocked opening. To the right of this is a 20th-century latticed wooden porch with a gabled roof, covering a close-boarded door. The south gable, facing the street, has two 20th-century casements of different sizes, and above them a single three-light window. The interior includes a single bay post with arch bracing, and reused spine beams and wall plates. The roof is largely 19th century, with a reused purlin and principal rafter. The north end has a substantial internal stack with a 19th-century kitchen range. The building is included on the listing for its group value.
