Description

Normanton Hall is a country house dating to around 1870, built on the site of an earlier structure. It is constructed from yellow brick with stone dressings and a slate roof. The architectural style is Gothic Revival, featuring a plinth, notched eaves, and traceried bargeboards to the gables. There are two side wall and two valley stacks. Windows have hood moulds. The house is two storeys plus garrets, arranged in a 3x4 bay layout.

The front of the house, with its double gabled design, has a central, parapeted two-storey porch. This porch features a plain sash window on the upper level and an octagonal pilaster and coped parapet. A Tudor arched doorway leads to a half-glazed door with a Gothic overlight. Flanking the porch are single sashes, with Gothic glazing bars to the left and a blank window to the right. The upper floor of the front elevation features a smaller sash to the left and a plain sash to the right.

The garden front has a triple-gabled design, with a wing to the left incorporating a Gothic sash window. To the right is a triple casement window with a stepped head, and beyond that, a triple cross casement. Above, the wing has a smaller sash and a triple cross casement. The ground floor of this wing includes a larger Gothic sash window in a four-centred arched recess, a similar sash with a flat head, a French window, and a canted stone bay window with cross casements. The irregular rear elevation includes a main block with quoins.

Attached to the north-west side is a brick boundary wall with flat stone coping and a gate.
