Description
The Old Smithy is a house that was formerly a smithy, dating from the early 19th century, with significant additions made in the 20th century. It is constructed of brick and features a hipped roof covered with 20th-century pantiles. The building has a first-floor band, rebated eaves, a single roof stack, and a large external stack at the rear. It stands two storeys high and has a total of seven bays, with windows that are all 20th-century casements.
On the east end, there is a projecting brick arch in a horseshoe shape, painted, which includes a pair of garage doors with a timber lintel. Above this arch is an inscribed board. To the right, there is a 20th-century lean-to addition that also features a pair of garage doors. The main south front has a pair of garage doors on the left, followed by a bay window topped with a conical plain tile roof. To the right of the bay window is an off-centre gabled brick porch, also from the 20th century, which has three casements to the left and one casement to the right. Above the porch, there are five additional casements.
