Description
Nos. 52 and 54 Moorgreen are a pair of cottages built in 1895 by E. W. Godwin for Earl Cowper. The cottages are constructed of brick, partly tile hung, and feature a plain tile roof with three external gable stacks. They are two storeys high and consist of three bays arranged in a T-plan.
The street front includes a projecting central gabled bay that has four casement windows and a door in each return angle, flanked by single sash windows. Above this, there are four additional sashes and a plaque inscribed 'C. 1875'. On the south side, there is a door and a sash window, along with a casement in the return angle. To the right, there is a small gabled outbuilding. The north side features a rear addition with a catslide roof and two casements, with two sashes above. At the rear, there is a central gabled outbuilding with a door and a casement to the north, and above this, there are two sashes.
This building is part of a group of farmhouses and cottages designed by E. W. Godwin for Earl Cowper between 1872 and 1878.
