Description
Ordsall House is a house, formerly a rectory, built around 1820. It is constructed of brick that has been rendered and painted, topped with a shallow pitch slate roof featuring overhanging eaves. The building is two storeys high. The east front has three bays, with plain pilaster strips and a central doorway that is framed by a Doric columned porch. On either side of the doorway are single glazing bar sash windows, with three similar sashes located above on the upper floor. The south front has four bays, featuring four glazing bar sashes on the ground floor and four more on the first floor. This house was built for the Reverend Francis Foxlow, as noted in "The History of Retford" by John Piercy, published in 1828.
