Description

The Ordsall War Memorial is a war memorial that was unveiled in 1951. It stands approximately 1.25 meters high and is based on St Columb’s Cross from St Columb Major in Cornwall, where the granite for the memorial was quarried and carved. The memorial features a Celtic wheel-head cross on a short shaft that rises from a roughly-finished tapering plinth. On the front, there is a panel with a lead-letter inscription that reads: 1914-1918/ 1939-1945/ IN PROUD REMEMBRANCE OF THOSE WHO DID NOT RETURN. No names are included on the memorial.
