Description

Gringley Hall is a house dating to around 1800, with later 19th and 20th-century additions. The house is constructed of brick, rendered, with hipped slate roofs, stone sills, and two side wall stacks. It is two and a half storeys high and has a square plan, with a primary entrance from the east.

The main south facade features two 19th-century canted bay windows with flat roofs, each containing three glazing bar sashes. Above these are two glazing bar sashes, and above those, two smaller glazing bar sashes. A 20th-century flat-roofed extension to the left contains a single glazing bar sash within a round headed opening. A 19th-century two and a half storey single bay extension to the right features a single glazing bar sash on each floor. The east front incorporates, to the left, two paired glazing bar sashes on each floor. To the right is a classical timber doorcase with Doric columns, a round headed opening containing a fanlight and six-panelled door. Above the door is a single glazing bar sash on each floor. A single glazing bar sash is also on each floor to the right of the doorcase. Rear additions feature irregular 20th-century doors and windows.

Internally, a curved cantilevered staircase has turned balusters and a scrolled handrail. A single 19th-century, classical style timber fireplace is also present.

A boundary wall is located along Leys Lane and Mill Road, constructed of red brick with stone coping. Two ramps link the wall with a lower section, supporting a decorative iron railing. To the east of the wall are two square stone gatepiers with recessed panels and pyramidal caps, which carry a pair of Gothic cast iron gates. A wall to the right of the gates, along Mill Road and High Street, is constructed of gault brick with stone coping and a single ramp.
