Description

A range of farm buildings, dating from the late 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century, and now partly converted into a restaurant. The buildings are constructed of red brick with pantile roofs. They are arranged in a quadrangle plan with various extensions, and consist of stable blocks, a pigeoncote, and a barn.

A single-storey, three-bay range extends from the northeast side of the house, with a 20th-century glazing bar casement and a plank door. A projecting four-bay range to the left has a ridge stack with dentil eaves, a single glazing bar casement, and a plank door under a segmental arch, with two similar casements in former doorways also under segmental arches. The west gable of this wing has a large garage door opening and a small sash window above, both under segmental arches.

The wing extends to the rear, where the openings have been blocked and altered. The pigeoncote is incorporated within this wing, featuring bands of dentil forming single pediments in the gables, and a rectangular opening in the south gable. The wing turns south at a right angle, featuring a large projecting 20th-century lean-to.

Attached to the left of the wing is the barn, with blocked and altered openings on its front. A single-storey, single-bay wing is to the left of the barn, and a further single-storey wing extends to the rear, with five small round ventilators and a single glazing bar casement, which connects to the rear wing of the farmhouse. The internal courtyard walls have been altered, and the courtyard is now covered over.

The stables retain hay racks, and the pigeoncote contains brick nesting boxes. The buildings are included on the list for group value.
