Description
Pear Tree Cottages are two cottages that were originally a single house, built in the mid-18th century. They are constructed of red brick and feature a pantile roof with two red brick gable stacks. The eaves have a decorative dentil and dog tooth band and the building is set on a plinth. The cottages have a T-plan layout, are two storeys high with a garret, and consist of three bays with a first floor band.
The central part of the building has a large segmental arch over a recessed porch, which contains single doorways with wooden doors located in each of the side walls. These doorways are flanked by wooden transom and mullion glazing bar casements. Above the porch, there are two similar casements and a central half window, all of which are set under segmental arches. At the rear, there is a lower two-storey wing and a later lean-to extension.
