Description
The North Kelsey War Memorial is a First World War memorial that was unveiled in 1920 and later altered following the Second World War. It is made of Aberdeen Granite and features a granite Celtic cross that stands over two meters tall on a square, single-stepped base.
The dedications are located on opposing sides of the lower part of the shaft above the plinth. The front (west) side of the shaft has an inscription that reads: "TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN OF NORTH KELSEY WHO DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918." Below this, the names of the fallen are inscribed on the plinth.
On the rear (east) side of the shaft, there is another inscription that states: "TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN OF NORTH KELSEY WHO DIED FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1939-45." The plinth below this inscription also records the names of those who lost their lives.
