Description

The Whipping Post, dating from 1789, is a historical structure made of wood and iron. It features a six-foot wooden post with hinged whipping irons attached to the north and south sides. Each iron has two wrist holds of different sizes and a lower clasp to secure the wrists in place. The left-hand iron is inscribed with "1789 W.H." This post is included in the register for its group value only.
