Description
This monument, located 3 yards south of the Church of St. Edith, was built in 1790. It features a square base made of red brick and ashlar. The monument is supported by four corner columns that are fluted and made of ashlar, which broaden towards the top. These columns have moulded bases, palmette capitals, and scored abaci. Between the columns on three sides, there are slate plaques inscribed with the names and dates of William Maltby and his family. The top of the monument is moulded and rises to an urn adorned with palmette decoration and a large acorn finial. This monument is included for its group value with the nearby church.
