Description
Nos. 12 and 13 Westgate, dated 1903, are three-storey buildings constructed in red brick with a pantile roof. They feature a plain brick parapet with terracotta coping and terminating piers topped with ball finials. A terracotta cornice runs above the second-floor windows, which have terracotta architraves and hung sash windows. The shop front spans two floors, with the first floor displaying ten arcaded lights and carved spandrels, along with a wooden fascia adorned with triglyphs and gabled ends leading to panelled pilasters. The ground floor shop front has larger arcaded lights, also with carved spandrels, and a wooden fascia featuring a small central pediment above the doorway. A polished granite plinth fronts the street, complemented by grooved and carved end pilasters. A clock is mounted on a wrought iron bracket. This building is part of a group that includes the Westgate Hotel and Nos. 1 to 13 (consecutive).
