Description
Orchard House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with extensions from the early 18th century and alterations from the early 19th century. It is built of squared limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has Collyweston slate roofs with raised stone coped gables. The house has an L-plan layout and is two storeys high with attics, presenting a five-bay eastern front. The central entrance consists of a half-glazed door, which is sheltered by a 20th-century gabled porch, and is flanked by pairs of windows. The first floor contains five similar windows, all of which are margin light sashes with splayed lintels. The roof features three hipped dormers, each with two-light glazing bar casements and slate hung cheeks. The garden side of the house has three bays of glazing bar sashes on each floor and two gabled dormer windows.
