Description
43 Corby Road is a house dating from 1657, with alterations and partial raising that occurred in the late 18th century, along with minor changes in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings. It has a pantile roof, a moulded ashlar gable stack with a cornice, and a rebuilt limestone and brick ridge stack.
The house is two storeys high with a four-bay front. The left end bay has been raised and has a shallower roof pitch. The entrance is an off-centre half-glazed door, with a 20th-century double top-hung glazing bar window to the left and a single three-light and two-light glazing bar casement window to the right. On the first floor, there are two two-light glazing bar casement windows set into the eaves. The ground floor openings feature flat ashlar lintels with key blocks. The left gable stack bears the inscription "R.o.A. 1657". Inside, the property retains two chamfered beams with run-out stops.
