Description

No. 5 Market Place, formerly known as the Blue Lion Inn, is a late 18th-century building. It is constructed of colour-washed brick and features a slate roof. The building stands three storeys high with a parapet and has projecting bands between the storeys. The central doorway is adorned with fluted Doric pilasters, an entablature, and a pediment. The presence of many "blue" inns in the town is linked to the political preferences of Lord Dysart's family.
