Description

A house, dating from the late 18th century, with extensions and alterations made in the early 19th century. Built of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, it features ashlar dressings, a Westmorland slate roof, stone coped tumbled gables, and two brick gable stacks. The house is arranged in an L-shape. The front of the house has three storeys and five bays, with a plinth and a moulded ashlar cornice and parapet. The central entrance has a six-panel door with a fanlight, set within a Greek Doric open pedimented surround. It is flanked by single 19th-century canted glazing bar sash windows, which have ashlar bases and timber cornices with flat lead roofs. Five glazing bar sashes are on the first floor, and five smaller, similar windows are on the second floor. All windows have flat, rubbed brick splayed arches. The rear of the house has a brick dentillated eaves course. Inside, a stick baluster staircase has a mahogany handrail.
