Description
South Scarle Crossing Cottage is a signal man's cottage built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick and features slate roofs with dramatically overhanging eaves that are supported on coupled wooden brackets. The cottage has tall brick chimney stacks.
The southwest front has a single bay and a two-storey gable front, which includes a four-light casement square bay window beneath a shallow slate roof. Above this, there is a two-light casement window. To the northwest, there is a single-storey wing that also has a casement window.
On the southeast front, there is a wooden gable porch and a large cross casement window, along with a two-storey gable front that features a block door and a small casement window above it.
