Description

The ruins of the nave at Monks Abbey, a cell of St Mary's Abbey in York, date back to the 13th century. The structure has been repaired and consolidated in 1985 and 1990. It is constructed from coursed squared rubble with ashlar dressings and features a chamfered plinth. On the south-west side, there is a blocked elliptical headed doorway. Currently, only a section of wall approximately 10 meters long and 4 meters high remains. This site is designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument, County No. 24.
