Description
Ye Olde Whyte Swanne Public House is a 17th-century, low two-storey building located on the north side of Eastgate. The building is rendered and features a pantile roof with two brick stacks, one of which is modern. It has a sloped dormer with a sliding sash window that includes glazing bars. The structure has a high plinth and one window on the upper storey, which is also a sliding sash with glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are two windows that are hung sashes with glazing bars, cornices, and two small pilastered flanking lights beside a four-panel door with an entablature. To the right, there is a yard entrance. The gable end is made of wood, and there are two additional sliding sash windows with glazing bars on the side. The sign indicates that the public house was founded in 1612. Ye Olde Whyte Swanne Public House and No 47 form a group.
