Description

No. 97 Eastgate is an 18th-century building that stands three storeys tall and is constructed of brick. It features a band at the eaves and has two windows with moulded surrounds. The windows are hung sashes with glazing bars and have cills on tabs. The first-floor windows are pedimented and supported by consoles. The left-hand window projects slightly forward into a shallow rectangular bay, also with glazing bars. The building has a modern shop front that is not in keeping with its character. No. 97 is part of a group that includes Nos. 57 to 75 (odd), Nos. 79 to 103 (odd), and No. 2 Vickers Lane.
