Description
Ivy Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage constructed of red brown brick in English bond, featuring a thatched roof with raised brick coped, tumbled gables, kneelers, and an axial stack. The cottage has a lobby entry and a two-unit plan, consisting of a single storey with a garret. The front has three bays, with a central early 18th-century three-panelled door flanked by single glazing bar sliding sashes set under cambered brick arches.
Inside, the cottage retains a small sunken dairy, timber stud partitions, an original brick fireplace with a cyma moulded mantleshelf, two panelled doors, and period door furniture. The parlour includes two small cupboards on either side of the fireplace, featuring L and H hinges. The beams are cased. Ivy Cottage remains unaltered and is in its original early 18th-century condition, making it notable for its exceptionally complete internal features.
